Phonics

Little Wandle

We currently teach phonics using LCP planning, in which we have good results but we are now in a transition period having recently invested in Little Wandle phonics scheme, which ensures the teaching of phonics supports pupil’s decoding skills. Pupils start phonics as soon as they join us in EYFS, and complete Phase 1 in our pre-school, if they attend. Progress through the programme is excellent, and we develop fluent readers during EYFS and KS1 and achieve good phonics outcomes.

Our reading books closely match the children’s decoding skills to ensure all children can be successful.

When children complete the phonics programme, they continue to read levelled reading books as they move up through the school.
